Peter Feil, VP/General Manager, and Stephanie Gastauer, Talent Development Leader, recently presented information about the culture of STOBER Drives, Inc. to regional business leaders who gathered at Aileron in Tripp City, Ohio.

Specifically, the presentation featured STOBER’s focus on people development programs and the importance of prioritizing people development in business.  At STOBER, people development is the most important aspect of our business, and our development programs are a major determining factor of our current and future success.

  • Culture training:  Each employee’s badge includes their culture index results, which allows employees to be aware of how they communicate with others.  All new hires complete culture training to understand different traits and expectations.
  • Apprenticeships/Co-Ops/Pre-Apprenticeships:  Apprentices receive full-time benefits and pay while working 30 hours per week and devoting 10 hours per week to their coursework.  Pre-apprentices are designed for high school students and allows rotation through multiple company departments as they earn a journeyman’s certificate.
  • Continuing education:  STOBER facilitates training sessions and opportunities for employees to continue their education.
  • Tuition Reimbursement:  All employees are eligible to use tuition reimbursement to further their education
  • Wellness, including financial & health wellness:  Health insurance is free to STOBER employees.  Employees are offered classes on dieting, exercise, smoking cessation, financial education, Pete the Planner, and more.
  • GAS Program:  Recognition of employees going above and beyond, as identified by their peers.  Also provides monetary “GAS” money to employees to bridge the gap as they seek other employment.
  • Employee Activities: STOBER provides a team-building budget to each department to allow them to plan activities to strengthen their working relationships.  The STOBER Activities Team actively plans and executes company-wide events and celebrations that help keep morale at a healthy level.
  • And more!

The business leaders were very receptive to the presentation and asked several engaging questions about how they can transform their business culture to more closely mimic STOBER’s.  STOBER appreciates the opportunity to facilitate presentations at Aileron, a community of business owners using the DOC System of Professional Management to run thriving businesses.
