 History

STÖBER Antriebstechnik GmbH

STÖBER Antriebstechnik was founded in 1934 by brothers Paul and Wilhelm STÖBER. The company specialized in general machine building and motorcycle engine repair. In the years that followed, the brothers identified the need for a compact adjustable speed device which could be independently applied to different types of production machinery. In1943, they introduced their first mechanical adjustable speed traction drive.

The company moved into its existing facilities in 1959 and continued to grow and add new products including: gear drives, fractional horsepower double disc traction drives for wider speed ranges, electrical adjustable-speed drives, high-performance drives and more.

A second production facility in Pforzheim, Germany, was opened in 1984 to accommodate the increased demand for the company's products.

Even with the many new products introduced through the years, the company continued development of many of their original product lines. The many refinements engineered into these products over the past 61 years have earned it a worldwide reputation for ease-of-use and exceptional service life. In fact, the STÖBER MGS (or Modular Gear System) allows for millions of possible combinations to suit most every industrial application. STÖBER Antriebstechnik employs more than 500 people worldwide and is represented in 28 countries.

Today, Bernd STÖBER and other family members carry on the STÖBER family tradition of innovation and customer service. The company's manufacturing capacity has grown from a small corner in a family plant to well over 250,000 square feet. The company now has sales/engineering/distribution locations in: Germany, the United States, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Sweden, England, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Columbia, Bulgaria, Peru, Poland, South Africa, Thailand, Philippines, Hungary, Turkey and China.

The company's headquarters in Pforzheim, Germany is located 100 miles south of Frankfurt.
